"Alkora" Dance and PercussionALKORA serves as a focal point and expressive medium uniting artists and musicians from various backgrounds. Nurturing and developing their distinctive styles it is always open to the expression and exchange of new ideas.
In this way ALKORA not only produces concerts but also cultural festivals such as Benegorri 2004 and the Garinoain festival 2005. Here, in an organised way,we provide an outlet to the public for a variety of artistic talent including: Pottery, jewellery, clothwork, painting, sculpture, storytelling and other crafts.
In organising a market in conjunction with our concerts we aim to include activities and artwork that complement the performance. eg. the sale of hand made instruments, story telling, ethnic artwork and clothing etc..
As well as uniting local talent, another key objective of Alkora in organising open courses, is to bring together foreign artists and musicians. We rely on the services of native tutors from latin America and Africa. They include dance instructors from The Congo, Ivory coast, Cuba and London.
We organise our Master classes in various locations such as: Cultural centres, town halls, schools and Council halls.etc.. We are always interested in connecting and exchanging ideas with similar organisations and associations both nationally and internationally.
