Pulso y Compás

These sessions combine dance sequences by Ana Belén García (Pamplona) , Haydée Martínez (Cuba), and are accompanied with percussion by Carlos Urroz. The audience are introduced to the instruments used, their history and style of music together with techniques for playing as well as dancing to them.

The repertoire comprises African and Afro-Cuban dance numbers as well as ethnic African, Afro-latin & Afro-Cuban percussion themes.

Included also are:

A live percussion class where the instruments are presented in discussion along with techniques for playing them.

An Afro dance class illustrating some more commonly used movements, steps and techniques.

As well as discussion a practicle dance class is offered for those who wish to participate.

A display of music and choreography presented in a didactic manner with the aim of giving the audience a greater understanding of the world of dance and percussion. Here audience particpation is encouraged.
